For sale is our beloved family 1982 Series 3 Tax, MOT and ULEZ exempt with V5 Historic already completed.
We’ve owned the care for a couple of years, originally it was in a very tired state that required a lot of work.
The engine is a 2.25 petrol 5mb, work on the engine is;
Rebored to .020 due to a lot and scoring, crankshaft polished, new pistons, new big and small end bearings, new crankshaft new cam followers new timing chain, tensioners and guides, new water pump front and rear crankshaft seals, valves lapped, new stem seals. Basically a full engine rebuild. I manage to replace the tired Ducellier distributor with a NOS genuine Lucas 45D4 period correct.
The carburettor is the original Zenith 36IV that I sent to Scotcarb for full restoration.
Recently fitted a new alternator, solenoid, and cables (battery > solenoid & solenoid > starter) plus new starter wiring loom.
New exhaust system (down pipe and intermediate are stainless)
Steering box has been rebuilt with new bearings.
Radiator is new as the old one leaked.
New Heavy duty steering arms and new relay. Have the old ones and damper too should they be required.
The suspension has had new shock absorbers and poly bushes. The springs are parabolic from GB Springs.
All brakes have new shoes, re cylinders, new servo and new drums.
New front and rear prop shafts
Axle has had new bearings, new seals and stub axles.
Canvas and frame are newly fitted. New bench seats with a lap strap and new tailgate.
The car has had a fresh paint of coach enamel LRC005 Light Green, new door tops as the others were rusted through.
Full galvanised chassis fitted too.
The car is a great little runner and after the rebuild has led a relaxed retirement. Happily sits at 50+ on motorways but does easily get over 60 I just don’t like to go that quick in the old girl.
I also have a lot of spares left from the build, brand new clutch (old one has plenty of life)
New speedo cable, nuts bolts etc.
All in all this is a great car that has served us proudly but we’re now looking at getting another 110 300Tdi as a family holiday car.
